Sacred Sound has been used as prayer, in music, song or in chanting since humans have occupied this earth. Sound is known to be a direct link between mankind and divinity. Throughout time early civilizations of the Chinese, Greek, East Indian, Tibetans, Egyptians, Mayans, Aztecs and Native American Indians have all known the healing properties that sound provides. Singing bowls, harps, flutes, songs, mantras and chants were all created to assist humanity in balancing and healing one's physical and energetic bodies.
The Greek master teacher Orpheus taught the power of the healing through your voice. His name means "he who heals by the light". Pythagoras created the musical octave so as to reveal the relationship between musical notes and the mathematical principles of the universe. Aristotle created the Greek amphitheaters to harness the power of reverberation; the echo. These reverberations impact one's ear and the physical body, hitting one like a wave. The amphitheaters were designed with highly advanced knowledge of acoustical properties. They were noise free, increased the intelligibility of speech and sounds. The properties employed here would be used to create Gothic cathedrals; the songs and chants would raise the consciousness of the individual attending ceremonies there greatly. During the Roman Empire's reign of Julius Caesar, he knew the power of sound as an influence of the well-being of his people. He created a noise ordinance and had straw lain upon the streets of the city to reduce the amount of noise that was created there.
Sound impacts us greatly and is a major factor in our present state of consciousness. There is a difference between noise and sacred sounds as in prayer, voice and supportive music that produces harmony to our beings. Resonance is the key factor of sound. It is the ability of a vibration to move throughout vibrational waves to create a similar vibration in another body. Sound vibrations cause air molecules to move and spread. Every cell in our body resonates to sound. Sound Therapy was created by Fabien Maman during the late 1970's and early '80's. He experimented using Kirlian photography and found human cells electromagnetic fields change in shape and color due to the influence of different sounds. Maman has also found that sound affects humans' astral or emotional body predominately. He has also learned that color is linked most closely with our subtle mental body, and movement with our physical body. Maman believes that the use of all three elements, sound, color and movement will bring the greatest permanent transformation of one's good health.
Elias De Mohan is a leader in sound healing for self-awareness and soul evolution. Working with ancient wisdom teachings, Elias teaches that all life is striving for full self-conscious awareness. The Earth consciousness is the mother consciousness and is strongly tied to ours; as we affect each other's growth. Your individual expansion process is a form of service to yourself and to all of life. Knowledge and the use of sound, color and vibration will enhance your personal self-consciousness. The Harmonics of Sound, Color and Vibration by Elias De Mohan is a great resource to assist you in this process. Toning, singing and humming all are useful tools to aid you in self-balancing your energies and emotions.
